Trinket box is the modern day derivative of Limoges box, tracing back to the 18th century when it became a collectible for royalties. The boxes were originally used to send love poems, engagement rings and other special trinkets to friends and loved ones.
The technique of making jewelled trinkets is complex and involves repeated applications and firings of zinc alloy die-cast designs to create intricate details and depth of colour for each item. It is then baked, polished, plated with gold or silver trim and finished with handset crystal stones for a dazzling accent to the enamel.
Trinket boxes have magnet closures.
